We just returned from vacation in MI late last night. So all I picked was just this morning. The garden needs some work since I have been gone. Stuff dying, tomatoes falling over, I have some catching up to do. I had a couple of people come to check on the garden while I was gone. A few things got missed, so maybe I will let some go to seed to save some.
I'll be sharing my weekly harvest at Daphne's Dandelions for Harvest Monday!
The first 2 of my unknown hot ornamental pepper are on the bottom right. A few chioggia beets, 2 Georgia flaming hot peppers and several tomato varieties. |
A zucchini that got away, beans, cucumbers and beet greens. |
5 Lungo bianco zucchini that got away. What on earth am I going to do with these? For reference, those are 12" tiles. |
My garden helpers were allowed to take home whatever they picked from the garden this week. I hope they ate well. I am thankful for their help while we were away!
I'll leave you with a beautiful view from Muskegon State Park on Lake Michigan at sunset.
Looks like you better bake a lot of zucchini bread! I've found that's about the only thing to do with them when they get that big. That or feed them to the chickens!
ReplyDeleteThose are huge zucchinis! Beautiful harvest of tomatoes and peppers too, and wish I could have your beans. Very lovely picture of the sunset!
ReplyDeleteWow!! Such a beautiful harvest this week!!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a monstrous zuke (Lungo bianco and otherwise) O_O' Those would be great to freeze for the winter. Otherwise, donate them to a food bank, if you don't think you'll use them :-)
ReplyDeleteVery colorful harvest and sunset!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful view of the lake. Sometimes we have to just let things go to go on vacation and catch up when we get back. Glad you had someone to do most of the picking while you were gone. Still you got quite a few nice things. Nancy
ReplyDeleteI have to confess that my compost bin is usually well fed when I get home from vacation. Sometimes you just have to let things rot. Out with the old, in with the new. Whatever! Welcome home, hope you had a great vacation.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great time. The harvest looks great, considering you had volunteer help taking care of the garden. I wind up with those bat-sized zucchini even when I'm caring for the garden. Of course, not 6 at one time ;). Maybe shred them and freeze for winter bread and soup?
ReplyDeleteNice to come home to a beautiful big harvest. Hope you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteHoly cow...those are some huge zucchini! Maybe grate them and freeze them for bread or muffins this fall or winter?
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! Your garden was very productive while you were away. Wow that squash harvest is going to be a challenge to use up.
