Harvest Monday Oct 25, 2010

I was so busy preparing for Eli's 1st birthday tomorrow that I almost forgot my harvest! Maybe I'll show off his harvest birthday cake I am making tomorrow!

The peppers are still coming in and the tomatoes have started to turn, some of them.
Thursday is suppose to be 35 over night so I haven't decided if I am going to try to cover everything or just pick it all! Oh and look at that 2" Habanero!
Soon I will be digging up the Dahlia's to store for winter. Thought I would take a cutting too and see if I could get one or two going over winter. Ha! I'll need some good luck with that, cause I manage to let things die in the winter! I just don't pay as much attention to them! I have some basil cuttings as well. We'll see!

Click on over to Daphne's Dandelions and see what everyone else is STILL harvesting!

This weeks harvest totals:
11 Habanero Peppers
10 Serrano peppers
2 green bells
1 orange bell
7 tomatoes
9Juliet tomatoes
1 carrot
1/2 pt beans, pulled the plants!
1 pea pod, pitiful!
Oh, and one cute little 1 yr old boy! Does he count for harvest monday? :)

Happy Harvesting!

  2. Happy Birthday Eli. What a nice looking harvest. We are growing habaneros too, and have so many peppers. What do you do with yours? How do you cook with them?

  4. Thanks for the compliments on Eli! I think he is pretty stinkin cute too...but I am the mother!

meemsnyc-we use our habaneros in salsa, beef or chicken enchilladas, stuffed pablanos or anything else we decide to experiment with! This is actually the first year I have "gotten" habaneros. Tried last year, but no success. I have been growing the serranos for a while though.

  6. What a nice photo of Eli! I am envious of your beautiful large tomatoes - our season is done and I would love to have some beautiful beefy tomatoes like that ripening in the kitchen. Enjoy them. :D

  7. I had the same decision last week and I just picked. I really thought about covering up. And this week we got warm again. Not hot by any means, but into the mid 70s which at this time of the year really felt hot. At least I didn't pull the plants. Maybe just maybe I'll get some more peppers out of those plants.

And that is a beautiful photo of Eli.
